  1. Yeah, jimmying the poll questions etc is pretty easy to do if you want to do it as just about nobody will check, and you can always fudge the weightings if needed too which even fewer people will check. It only really comes back to bite you if the result demonstrably ends up contradicting your polls like with Brexit or to an extent the last US Presidential race. Didn't Obama supposedly not have the most enthusiastic (non official) reaction to Biden running either? Something along the lines of "you know Joe, you don't have to do this...". Had a quick search, but not an easy query to narrow down.
  2. Hey guys, So, I'm about to start a Bleak Walker playthrough after my Marauder playthrough, in which - after picking a bunch of options that I felt were in character - I wound up with at least one rank in almost all of the dispositions (Except Stoic, Shady, and Cruel). I'm going to be picking a Paladin/Wizard as my next character, and probably my main - and I'm aiming for a Bleak Walker. Now, my issue with this is that the game seems pretty sneaky about slipping in lots of different reputation gains that you might not want as that particular kind of character. I'm not saying it doesn't make sense for a Bleak Walker to NEVER be diplomatic/benevolent, just that - since the system tends to be in the background (I play on Expert)- some of those options can sneak up on you. "Sure, I'll help you with your problem" = Benevolent vs "If I'm in the area, I'll keep an eye out" = Neutral My main point is... would it be in bad faith to play as a Paladin with "Show reputation gains" turned on, especially since Reputation in this game isn't on an axis and there's no way to "lose" points with what should be opposing reputations (Cruel vs Benevolent, Diplomatic vs Aggressive... granted, Aggressive is a bad example since it's opposed to Stoic/Rational as well). Just to avoid situations like the one I mentioned above (Which I have seen, in testing).
  3. Thank you for the suggestion, we will begin work on it immediately. Query: If we went with Starjammer instead, would you still buy it?
  4. even if your recollection were accurate, it would be yet another argument in favor o' doing ship combat as 'posed to boarding actions. party ordinary levels is a complete non-factor in resolving ship combat. and we may say with certainty that recruited sidekicks who is not added to the party proper after joining your roster will fail to "bounce" to the watcher's level the first time they is added to the party and level'd, if such leveling occurs remote from whence they is recruited. tried this just yesterday in response to the genesis poster's query. as we noted, 'bove, we recruited sidekicks at 'bout level 11-12 range... perhaps a bit later for rekke. our watcher is level 20 and the sidekicks we level tested were all level 18, with the dwarf extreme close to level 19. am an obsessive game-saver, so we could check to see how sidekick xp languishes if is something folks is genuine interested in discovering. at the very least, during this more recent run, we kept a save everytime we level'd in the game, other than tutorial portion. as we noted already, after recruiting, we never level'd any o' the sidekicks-- they are all technical level 1 'ccording to our ship's roster... 'til we level 'em 'course. is difficult to imagine a more tedious exercise, but perhaps we will check sidekick levels at recruitment (or close) and then perhaps level 15 and level 20. am knowing we checked at level 20 already, but such were level 20 after considerable additional gaming. "screw your courage to the sticking place, and we'll not fail." give us a bit. HA! Good Fun! ps we may only do this experiment with sidekicks as such were the joinables we never bothered to level... evar. if regular companions have a slight different xp progression, we will have no way o' gauging accurate. pps *sigh*seems we were more cautious with sidekick recruitment for the character we were running in january 'cause none o' the sidekicks were recruited into our crew previous to level 16... which is interesting in itself as 4 additional Gromnir levels resulted in 2 sidekick leveling opportunities. will nevertheless look to see what happened 'tween level 16 and 20. have a couple earlier characters, but we retained far fewer saves for such. ppps ok. so at some point between level 16 and 17 we recruited all sidekicks and never level'd any. we used our level 16 save (immediate save 'pon attaining level 16) and then added konstantine and level'd him. sure enough he were within a thousand xp o' our watcher character and were also level 16. as we said, somewhere betwixt 16 and 17 we recruited all sidekicks, but at our level 18 save, konstantine were beginning to fall behind-- were level 17.5. at our level 20 save, konstantine were level 18.5.
  5. I am going to attach a crash file here that your software created for this purpose so that you can review it. 1) It happened in a saved-game file saved in 4.1.0.0023, after the game was loaded in 4.1.1.0034. 2) Description of the save: had just made port in Nantucket(sp?--try not to laugh too hard...I simply cannot recall the exact name of the port... ), and had defeated the harbor lord's edict to leave port--by way of my spiritual proxy summoning spirits of the dead to scare them off (and quite effectively at that.) Saved the game at that point in 4.1.0.0023. Bug manifested when I loaded that game in 4.1.1.0034--game upgraded through the GOG Galaxy update mechanism. 3)Description of the bug: after loading saved game as recounted in (1) above, for some reason my entire party was moving at 2x normal speed--instead of normal walking--and when I used the non-combat speed-up option, bizarrely, the entire party was flying everywhere at 4x normal speed--resembled a horde of enraged yellow-jackets swarming!... All controls functioned--I could toggle non-combat speed-up between 2x and 4x fine--but under no circumstance would movement return to normal walking--which I assume is 1x speed. Pressed every option button known to the game and then some, all to no avail. So this is the bug. See attached crash files. 4) I have already overwritten the saved-game file, apologies. One of those "delete before you think" situations. (Actually I overwrote it with another save.) 5) However, I had other saves from the same version which I loaded, as per (1) above, at almost the same place--and none of them exhibited the same bug at all--so that's the good news, I suppose. All of the subsequent saves and reloads in 4.1.1.xx were free of the bug. 6) I have not experienced this bug since. Hopefully your crash files will be of some help! It looks like a one-off to me, but then there might be something in the code you would care to fix, etc. ALRIGHTY, then...your uploader refuses to let me upload anything, even a .rar file 44kb in size--far, far smaller than one megabyte. I have used the standard uploader and your flash uploader--to the same end--I am refused uploads on any files, regardless of file extension. 'Kay. I tried. Query: What is the point of providing instructions on bug finding that don't work? Please advise. Thanks.
  6. So I'm playing a monk, and one of their bread and butter abilities, Swift Strikes boosts speed of attack. Does this boost stack with that granted by Pallegina's Vielo Vidorio? Many thanks, prototype00
  7. QQs and excessive punctuation and "very sad" appears to be needed for gifted, so is 'bout him being discombobulated as 'posed to Gromnir. if is unnecessary, we can stop, but don't want you to lose track as is so frequent the case. our father was cremated, so is inapplicable. on the other hand, if this were some kinda silly attempt to bait us, then we will make only the following observation: QQ hower, as a serious response to a childish query heavy with snark (can't expect too serious a response if you describe with "pappy's bones," eh?) am gonna observe how hinder construction based on presence o' remains o' relatives temporal proximate or remote is personal irrelevant as am having little emotional attachment to the remains o' the deceased. nevertheless, am self aware enough to recognize we would unapologetic use such an excuse on behalf o' clients or causes we believed in as a means delaying or stopping ill-considered constructions. would be irresponsible and unethical not to use every means. also, while we do not have the emotional makeup to be individual concerned 'bout the moldering evidence o' humans long dead save as data for physical anthropologists and the like, would be needing channel a level o' sociopath thankful alien to us to fail to recognize how different such stuff affects our fellow living humans. to discount impact o' a perceived violation o' earthly remains 'cause it don't bother Gromnir personal would be displaying a level o' callousness we hesitate to consider. as such, our concerns insofar as "pappy's bones" is a recognition such is not necessarily insular from our concerns 'bout the wellbeing o' the living. likely needed at least a couple exclamation points to generate comprehension, but C'est La Vie! HA! Good Fun!
  8. not that i think a justification is necessary, but tekehu keeps referring to ondra/ngati as his 'tricksome' mother and i think onekaza uses the same descriptor. the angler fish is notorious for luring prey into its gob with its light. and considering that shes the goddess of erasure, and the goddess of storms, i think duplicity and caprice are well within her wheelhouse. in the abbey of the fallen moon, her adherents are actively benighted before theyre drowned. nature can be random, uncaring and destructive, beholden to nothing but its own whim. ondra represents that more than any other god in eora. definitely more so than galawain, who represents nature as a meritocracy of the fittest. i really dont see a problem with having godlike variants, especially for a deity like ondra who claims both the moon and the sea as her symbols - which are naturally related due to the tides - why not have marine and moon godlike, it makes perfect sense. symbolically its consistent, and the inconsistency of having divergent godlike forms is consistent with what we know of ondra. like, if ur gonna quibble about lore gremlins, this is close to the biggest non-starter u could choose. if id query anything, it would be the death godlike. like, why tf do they look like they do. surely having concealed eyes should be a wael thing if anything. maybe the death godlike should have been born with two faces, empty eye sockets, and flanking immunity or something. i guess they came up with the initial design and thought it was cool and creepy enough to represent 'death' before the lore was fully fleshed out, which is fine. creative process often throws up stuff that doesnt always fit without a bit of grease. is the nature of the beast. EDIT: ah, boeroer got the trickster thing in before me. proves how many times i got distracted by other things while tapping out a reply lol.
  9. I am no longer a player of this game, but after recently reading many of the threads around here it seems that there are many players with a good knowledge of the mechanics that seem to be talking about the same core issue that I find with the combat in this game. I have put this issue into the following hypothesis: The hypothesis does not mention the recent addition of affliction immunities, but they are largely a strategical consideration and may fall into the instances mentioned in the fourth paragraph where the player may have to alter their encounter strategy but still proceed with the rote sequence. I have pondered on this issue for a long time now, and I'm thinking of producing a piece that will closely examine this problem, and other problems related to the game's combat and system design and present some feedback and possible solutions that might be of interest for the sequel IF there is any acknowledgement of this issue and intent to try and solve it - and by this I mean intent to design a combat system that is more reactive and requires more tactical diversity from the player. Explanations as to why you agree or disagree and discussing the points I made in the hypothesis would be welcome, thankyou in advance.
  10. I'm worried because she writes like a highschooler. http://www.literarygenius.info/education-of-william-shakespeare.htm mark twain didn't get beyond elementary. dickens, one o' the authors frequent invoked in any goat discussion 'bout authors, never finished high school as he were sent to debtor's prison when thirteen, following the death o' his father. is not difficult to find additional examples. sure we lauded ms. starks and her acquiring o' an mfa, but am never marginalizing folks 'cause o' lack o' education. our comical and self-indulgent pursuit o' education taught us little save for fact successful acquire a degree don't make a person educated in any meaningful sense. got any particular examples o' sophomoric or puerile writing from ms. starks? is a legit query as we have not yet got around to tyranny. and if you suggest we play tyranny for our self, then will assume you are mere hurling p00p. if her writing is memorable bad enough to inspire a post, should be memorable 'nuff to provide specific examples along with developed rationale for your disquiet. otherwise, am feeling justified in ignoring the genesis post as the equivalent o' a zoo chimp hurling offal at onlookers. HA! Good Fun!
  11. I dunno, is behaviour really something you should have on the Contacts table ? Could have Contacts and Good_Contacts and then just do a join. Although, guess it doesn't make much sense to have a table with one column. Suppose there could be a column for reasons. Then again, SQL Clause may be into non-RDBMS Edit : Also, that query might be slower than it should, index on behaviour isn't going to be as helpful.
  12. I looked at the wiki companion page. 8 Companions, only 3 have quests, is this correct in the final release? Do companions have an "alignment" that may/may not work with yours? Thank you
  13. I have just finished a playthrough of BG1 using my original 6 disc set, including TOSC. I am now ready to import my lovely shiny character file into BG2 and continue the adventure. I have done this before, sveeral years back. I can see imported character files. HOWEVER, when I go to where I think the BG1 folder is, I can't find squat. No savegames, no exported character files. They must be in my machine somewhere, as I can import them into BG1 if I try to start a new game. What the hell is going on?
  14. It took few days for Ship Naked to answer my query at least and Dan H has said here that they are swamped with open tickets and will get to them as soon as possible. It took like 10-14 days to ship it from Germany (?) to Finland. They shipped other package on 12th and other on 17th (yet they both came in one same package?). I think my account still says shipping soon, even though I have my collector's edition right next FNV collector's edition
  15. Thank you both for the comments. My cipher was level 5 at the time of my query. I have since done a few quests in Act II, but in order to complete Built to Last and win the fight with Dodwyna, I needed the Rotfinger Gloves. Even with my wood beetle figurine, winning that fight without the ability to spam Touch of Rot was just too high risk for my Ultimate save. After completing that quest and subsequently buying Shod-in-Faith, my survivalibiliy has become a lot better. I went back to Act I to complete some minor quests and see how Firebrand performs in the bear cave. Dual-wielding damage hits and crits tend to be in the region of 20-30 dmg per hit when using Gaun’s Snare and Azureith’s Stiletto. Using Firebrand, I would do 40-60 depending on whether I hit or crit. This was all at level 5 with only my physic whip fully upgraded. As Boeroer mentioned above, the recovery time with a two-hander made quite a difference. With Res 7, interruptions felt like they cost me more with Firebrand than when dual-wielding. So, what decision did I make? Well, once I reached level 6, I chose Apprentice’s Sneak Attack. Damage output has increased nicely and I now typically have the opportunity to cast other powers (rather than just Mental Binding) as I have more focus at my disposal. Gut feel tells me that a hasted 16 level cipher wielding Firebrand will destroy most foes, but at this stage of the time the quicker recovery is still crucial. Once I reach level 8, I will need to review this decision again, and I feel that level 10 is the latest for me to make that decision.
  16. Please ignore my query got my games mixed up :)

  17. I was just thinking: how many people with a chronic illness would I have to lay hands on, before I would 'miraculously' cure at least three?
  18. not sure if you going for irony. you do be recalling how it were gifted who wanted to go emoji + sarcasm in this thread 'stead o' serious. am also recalling how last few times gifted has seen some kinda tragic flaw in Gromnir response, it were typical following a comic gifted blunder. can add another such to tally if you wanna continue. 'course if the mod wants to engage in and even promote this kinda silliness, we will indulge for as long as he wishes to do so. tacit approval and all that. oh, and to answer earlier query, we didn't find any gifted posts condemning republicans for blocking obama efforts. after all, such a post from gifted woulda' been noteworthy, but we have no recollection o' such and cannot find. if gifted would like to show us how he ain't being transparent in his condemnation o' political gridlock, we would appreciate a linky or two. willing to wait. will we be waiting comic long time? as for housing costs and market forces, am admitted a beneficiary o' the current scheme, so am hardly unbiased. that said, we would hate to be a young person in 2018 attempting to buy our first home. as we noted during the recent prez election, our two biggest concerns for US was, and is, wealth disparity and national debt. 'cause o' generational wealth disparity, is exceeding difficult for a young person to purchase a home, particular if mom and pops do not own a home. family wealth is inextricably tied to home ownership in this country, which is why the housing bubble burst near a decade ago were so disastrous. the current scheme is skewed disproportionate in favor o' the haves vs. the have nots. as to market forces, such is borked 'cause the banking system is once again borked. market ain't responding reasonable 'cause loans is not being provided reasonable, just as were the case previous to the last housing bubble crisis. we seeming learned nothing from the great recession. our personal situation is unique and hardly useful for drawing general conclusions. sure, we came from modest means and no history o' property ownership, but we benefited from scholarships, and a whole lotta' luck, to get education and job opportunities not common to our peers. current situation benefits us great as we have diversified portfolio and enough cash so that if/when there is another housing crisis with tens o' thousands o' folks defaulting, the value o' our property will once again go into the crapper, providing an enormous loss which we may then carry forward for tax purposes almost indefinite while being able to simultaneous purchase foreclosed properties at dimes on the dollar. housing crisis which destroys retirement plans o' many tens o' thousands and ruins credit o' many younger folks actual benefits folks such as Gromnir. system is borked. HA! Good Fun!
  19. watched the recent twitch stream wherein developers were asked lore questions. more than once, the answer to a question were a recognition that josh would know the answer to the query. ... am hopeful josh has taken extra effort and put pen to paper so all the pillars lore is existing elsewhere than josh's noggin. then again, perhaps josh has already done so and is simple that not even fellow obsidinaties has been able to muster the patience to read mr. sawyer design docs. HA! Good Fun!
  20. Under what circumstances are you allowed to pick up an opposing player and run off with him, screaming "wub wub wub wub wub wub"? It's a tactic I only just thought of.
  21. See https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/103067-all-the-uuids-listed/ That abstracts this problem and explains it. Basically there will be no connection between the two other than level20 which in the post above I use as an example of Sanza and his shop. I read your post before writing that one so I give you a few personal clues in the thread. I've mentioned to the devs this disconnect - I think I'll push this one a little harder - the only way to currently find out the linkage is full analysis of 30Gb (takes 8 mins per query, hence the other post where I've done most of the 'homework') I can't CC a PM but basically what I'll be asking for is linkage so Sanza has Sanza's Shop which contains Spyglass etc and is a member of [some] faction where we can apply discounts. You doing the Economy mod then? I've not looked at factions properly yet but it's got some keys that obviously affect the economy
  22. First off, I was aware that the pet generally wasn’t that great, but I was asking if the chanter abilities might make it survivable enough. Thus, I was asking something I did not know the answer to. Second, you never addressed my central query, Marigoldran, and your attitude comes off as quite rude and condescending. Next time you have nothing to add to the topic of my posts, I would ask that you keep your thoughts to yourself. I have tried to remain respectful, but I am nearing the end of my patience with you. With all due respect, perhaps we should avoid each other.
  23. Agree, there's no indication the gods would know about pre-Engwithan life. I further note that the gods aren't terribly bright-- while they have access to additional info by virtual of their long existences, they aren't any better than kith at deduction or problem solving. IIRC, Berath suggests that the gods are actually *worse* at decision making, since they are all required to obey their assigned roles. Thus even if the best course of actions involves not betraying anyone, Skaen gonna Skaen. Also, query why Eothas didn't pull this stunt earlier. Perhaps he couldn't, and his death freed him from his programming, Agent Smith-style?
  24. long guns one side and double bronzers the other. could go all double bronzers, but am liking longs to disable sails as early as possible. still, two salvos from a junk with all double bronzers will sink everything. HA! Good Fun! Your proposal isn't spending, it's an investment! is why we specific responded to the query o' how best to spend money. facing a brewster's millions quandary were not what we were addressing. HA! Good Fun!
  25. Torment: Tides of Numenera fits your query just about perfectly. But that game is complete garbage, don't compare it to POE. that game was good... The only two things I didn't like , was the ending and how it was compared to Planescape Torment . It was a nice try , but it sure like hell...was nowhere to Planescape Torment Level story wise . Agreed, take away the fact that it tried to be a Torment successor and you have a good (not great, but good nonetheless) game with strong potential that just didn't transfer 100% of its potential to the actual game. When you look at it in a vacuum, no ties to Torment, it's fine by me. a garbage game is a game that fail on all front..story..combat....mechanic...everything pretty much . I actually liked the story , but yeah..it was missing alot that planescape torment did . I think the comparaison with planescape hurt that game more then it did good .
